WHAT WE DO
Cotton
Standard & General serves cotton growers and textile mills worldwide through our network of raw cotton marketing offices.
We are a global marketer of raw cotton. We export from the top cotton-producing regions in the US, Brazil, India, Australia, and West Africa to our industrial customers all over the world.
The cotton plant is a shrub native to tropical and subtropical regions around the world, including the Americas, Africa, Egypt, and India. The cotton plant provides raw cotton fiber for textiles and seeds that can be processed into oil for human consumption, organic fertilizer, and animal feed.
The raw cotton fiber is the most valuable part of the cotton plant. The raw cotton fiber is spun into cotton yarn which can be woven or knitted into a fabric. Due to cotton's softness, breathability, and durability, cotton remains the preferred choice for towels, bedding, and clothing.
Our customers are some of the world's largest textile manufacturers. They value our robust supply chains, founded on our strong, established relationships with raw cotton producers in the world's primary growing regions.
Our mutually beneficial relationships with raw cotton producers mean that our customers can depend on the reliable delivery of quality raw cotton. Our experience in the global cotton markets and our partnerships with raw cotton producers provide our industrial customers with unrivaled supply security, service, and quality levels.
